The Man Who Wasn't There

After watching ‘Fargo’ and ‘O Brother Where Art Thou’ I realized that Coen Brothers are the guys who know how to make movies that suit my taste. But I must admit that, I hated watching ‘The Man...’. Brilliant Camera work, as good as that in ‘Schindler’s List’ is not good enough to help this movie. The suspense is disturbingly puzzling. Black and White photography adds to the disturbing element. Billy Bob Thornton acted superbly and Frances Mcdormand was wasted. Even when the movie is finished, it doesn’t feel like really ended; some questions were still unanswered after the climax. Scene where widow of Big Dave comes to Barber’s house is the best sequence of the movie.

I think that the crude humor which is supposed to be the specialty of Coen brothers was missing from the movie. ‘The Man…’ is not a bad movie but is also not any kind of pure entertainer. The storytelling was awesome and the some sequences were really stunning. With this movie I must say ‘O Coen Brothers where art thou ? ‘ because you are not there. This movie can be watched just once and that too because of Coen Brothers name.
